October is my favorite month of the year. The weather is getting chillier, the leaves are turning, and the smell of fall is finally in the air. It's a month for apple picking and pumpkin carving, scary movies and warm drinks. But now that the weather is getting colder, fall is also a time to pack away the summer clothes and haul in the fall wardrobe. Below is a list of some of my favorite things that are perfect for the fall months.
| 1. Blazers/Jackets B lazers don't just have to be paired with dressier outfits, but they can also be the perfect finish to a casual "everyday" outfit. Pair a jacket with a pair of denim jeans and you're set! Personally, I love jackets from The Limited; I love the way their jacket's are cut and the way they fit. As for what goes under the blazer or jacket? Anything really. An oxford and henley top are what I have shown worn with mine, but there's nothing specific that you have to wear under a blazer. |
2. Oxfords & Flannels Oxfords and flannels are perfect for fall because they can be worn with a variety of things. They can be worn under blazers, they can be worn with jeans, and they can be worn with leggings. When it comes down to it, YOU have the option to dress up or dress down an outfit depending on what the occasion is. Oxfords and flannels are so versatile that they are one of my favorite tops to wear. |
3. Button-down Dress Button-down dresses are in my opinion, necessary to have in your wardrobe. They can easily be dressed up or down, they can be worn in hotter weather by rolling up the sleeves, and cooler weather by adding a pair of tights and a scarf. Pattern wise, I love plaids, maroon, navys, and darker colors which I think are perfect for fall. The belts on these dresses are removable, so it is easy to interchange thin belts to pair with the dress. |
4. Jewelry I hardly ever go out without a watch on. Depending on how dressy my outfit it, my accessories will vary. If I'm wearing a dressier outfit, I will wear a dressier watch paired with a bracelet. If my outfit is more casual, so is my watch, and I usually don't wear a bracelet. I only usually wear 2 pairs of earrings- my pearl or my diamonds- they tend to go with any outfit. I don't wear my necklaces with my outfits, aside from a personal one I always wear. If I do decide to wear a necklace, my outfit is usually dressier, and the necklace will be "chunky". Remember, jewelry can easily dress up an outfit so don't go crazy with accessories if you don't want them to be the focus of your entire image. |
5. Wristlet Recently instead of carrying a purse, I've been carrying around a wristlet. I find that I have much less of a hassle getting to my money and ID and phone rather than having to dig inside a purse. I purchased two of the same wristlets, one in black and one in brown, and I find that these two colors go with any outfit that I wear. If I do decide to take a purse out, these wristlets easily fit into my purse as well. |
6. Boots Shoes have always been my weakness, especially boots. I do not have all of my boots pictured but I do show my two favorites that I wear with most of my outfits. Two-toned boots are so cute in my opinion and look great with denim jeans or a casual dress. Bean Boots by L.L. Bean are great shoes for any weather, and they are made to wear with heavy socks. They keep your feet super warm, and clean off easily. I wear my black and brown tall boots depending on the color scheme of my outfit, and some lower boots and ankle boots that I wear depending on my outfit as well. | |
7. Lipstick I've always thought that lipstick is a perfect finish to an outfit no matter if it's subtle or bold. My favorite color to wear this fall is called "deepest cherry" by Maybelline. It goes on as a sort of "oxblood color" and I love pairing it when I wear maroons, navy, brown, and white. I also usually wipe a little off after applying so it is not quite as bold. |
9. Nail Polish Recently, I've stopped biting my nails and have decided to work on strengthening and shaping my nails. One of the ways I keep myself from biting my nails is by painting them. These three colors pictured are my newest polishes that I've purchased and I find that I can find one of the three that matches with any outfit that I wear. These colors really remind me of fall and go on easily without clumping. I highly recommend Essie nail polish for use. |
10. Scarves Last but certainly not least, scarf season is finally here and I couldn't be happier. Scarves go perfectly with button down shirts, dresses, jackets, really anything. Recently I've only worn my dress scarves since it hasn't been too cold. Scarves, in my opinion really add a finishing look to an outfit in the fall. |
